Feels like I got Mesothelioma from just watching. Especially when they were just blowing it in that room.

If you remove the video label, it could be cotton and they are making thread or clothing. All of a sudden, my mesothelioma cleared up.

It’s like Marie Curie and radium and polonium.
They didn’t comprehend there was anything wrong with what they were handling daily. Marie Curie’s notebook is kept in a lead box to this day as with many other items.
Then there’s the radiumluminesence used on watch dials. The ‘radium girl’s used to lick the end of the brush to get a fine tip and would get radioactive poisoning and things that came to be known as radium jaw.
Or Thomas Midgley who put lead in petrol and CFCs in refrigeration units, both of which are now banned for being so destructive to the environment.
U.S. companies wanted to use very small nuclear bombs for construction and demolition during the age where nuclear was our saviour and the answer to everything.
Hindsight is a marvelous thing. But at the time they thought they were doing the world a great service.
Just got to keep living and learning from it while dealing with it’s after effects.

Little known fact: early asbestos had thicker fibers which are less likely to cause health issues, a later (1940’s era?) mine’s supply was much finer and is what caused all the health problems we associate with asbestos.

That was hard to watch. No PPE in sight; I don’t think I even saw anybody wearing gloves!

There was no “Good ol’ Days” we have it better than anyone in history.
It is a shame for all those people, but we have learned from their mistakes and misfortunes. I’m pretty sure they don’t make brakes like that anymore. And thank goodness.

We still make cluster f**ks though.
Look at the plastics and recycling and pollution levels around the world.
The cardboard coffee cup that is lined with a thin layer of plastic. It was meant to reduce the amount of plastic cups, but because it’s lined with plastic it can’t be recycled with cardboard or plastic as there are still very few machines or companies able to separate the plastic from the cardboard.
We have it better than we’ve ever had it but there still problems to solutions from our previous problems.
